BALI - another way!

Discover  everyday life in a tiny little Balinese village, far off the beaten track:

(right-click the youtube button at the bottom right of the screen to select the subtitle language)
Welcome to Bendul! Attend a few of the numerous ceremonies, discover the gamelan, traditional dancing lessons and "performances", children playing in the street ... Visit families in their homes, accompany people working in the rice fields, watch children and teachers at school. Let yourself be charmed by these warm, happy people, be contaminated by their kindness and carelessness.

There are many films about Bali already, but in most of them you can notice a certain distance between the filmmaker and his subject. In my film you can discover what remains hidden to most Bali visitors: daily life of ordinary people in their village, with their joys and sorrows.
Since a couple of years I live in that village with a relatively poor family, sharing their daily life with them and the other villagers. That  makes it possible to observe and film that life from very close-by.

They consider me as a family member, tell me about their ups and downs. They’ve grown so used to me with my camera, that they don’t pay any attention to me anymore when I film, and just continue whatever  they’re doing. The result is a huge amount of footage, completely natural, without staging, of their daily lives. Now I want to share a part of this wealth with you.

For there novation of their big temple, the villagers borrowed money from the local bank. The profit of this film will contribute to pay back this credit.
You will benefit from this film when at home, comfortably seated in front of your screen, you discover this village and go on a  virtual journey.

My film project:

BALI - another way!

Discover  everyday life in a tiny little Balinese village, far off the beaten track:

(right-click the youtube button at the bottom right of the screen to select the subtitle language)
Welcome to Bendul! Attend a few of the numerous ceremonies, discover the gamelan, traditional dancing lessons and "performances", children playing in the street ... Visit families in their homes, accompany people working in the rice fields, watch children and teachers at school. Let yourself be charmed by these warm, happy people, be contaminated by their kindness and carelessness.

Why do I make this film?

Who benefits from your contribution and the film?

For there novation of their big temple, the villagers borrowed money from the local bank. The profit of this film will contribute to pay back this credit.
You will benefit from this film when at home, comfortably seated in front of your screen, you discover this village and go on a  virtual journey.

When can you see the movie?

I'm going back to this village in December 2013 to continue filming and finish editing. When I come back to Europe, end of May 2014, I can send you the movie. Private screenings will be possible from June 2014 on (I have a beamer).

Meanwhile you can watch my film "We really love Bali"  and 62 of my other Bali-videos already on youtube.

Why do I ask you for a contribution?

So far I have financed this project with the benefit of my street music - summer tours. Due to unforeseen circumstances in springtime I could only start this year’s tour in August, six weeks later than normal. That’s why I couldn’t manage to earn enough money to carry out this project under reasonable conditions. I hope to make this movie as planned thanks to your support. Do you participate?

What you get from me in return?

Below is a list of rewards that are only a few proposals. If you want to support this project, but receive another reward than described there, do not hesitate to let me know what you want! The amounts listed are only suggestions as well, you can decide how much you may want to contribute. Everything is welcome.
